At Lunatic Fringe Pudelpointers, our breeding program is built around a single standard: producing purpose-bred pudelpointers capable of performing at a high level in both upland and waterfowl hunting, in the most challenging conditions, as well as excelling in the NAVHDA hunt test system.

 

We are a small, family-based kennel, and every dog we breed is first and foremost a personal gun dog, and developed through extensive hunting on wild birds and evaluated under demanding conditions.  Our dogs are not raised in kennels or maintained solely for breeding purposes. Each resides either in our home, or with trusted hunting partners and their families.  This is critical as it allows us to truly evaluate each dog and ensure that each has the "off switch" that is needed for a family dog.  None of our dogs are maintained as brood stock; they are proven hunting dogs first, and breeding animals second.

All of our dogs have been hunted extensively on grouse, woodcock, pheasant, and waterfowl, including late-season conditions where reliability, cooperation, and mental toughness are required. In addition, all breeding stock is evaluated through the NAVHDA testing system, ensuring that natural ability, trainability, and versatility are consistently represented in our program.

All litters are produced in accordance with the standards of the North American Pudelpointer Breeders Alliance, whose mission is to preserve and advance the performance expectations of the breed. Puppies are NAVHDA-registered and are guaranteed to be free from genetic defects for one year.

We do not operate as a high-volume kennel. Rather we prioritize carefully planned breedings and the deliberate placement of each puppy within the litter.. Our focus is on placing pups with serious hunters who understand the demands of a versatile hunting dog and are committed to developing that potential in the field.

 

Prospective owners are encouraged to review our hunting galleries and NAVHDA accomplishments, as these reflect the standards to which our dogs are held. As a general rule, a future gun dog owner should seek a breeder whose expectations meet or exceed their own.
